StartUp Hutch Assists in Providing Loan to Fill County Gaps

Dr. Jarrod Decter Opens Mental Health Practice in Hutchinson

Hutchinson, Kan., – Hutchinson Mental Health, LLC received a $46,000 loan and a $4,000 grant through the Kansas Community Investment Fund (KCIF), a program supported by the Kansas Health Foundation and administered by NetWork Kansas. StartUp Hutch provided support for this project by assisting Dr. Jarrod Decter through the application process as well as served as the local liaison.

Dr. Decter, owner of the mental health practice, will use these funds to purchase and renovate a previously unused office space located at 1206 N. Main Street in Hutchinson.

“Our goal is to include individual therapy, couples therapy, family therapy and eventually group therapy services to work closely with local schools, hospitals, and the legal system’s needs,” said Dr. Decter. “Our aim will help fill in the gaps where mental health services are needed most in Reno County.”

The KCIF loans and grants leveraged for this project are available for any organization with a mission of improving community health in under resourced areas by enhancing access to care, educational attainment, civic and community engagement, and promoting healthy behaviors.

“This grant provides Reno County with necessary medical services that have not been easily accessible for many in our community,” said Jackson Swearer, Entrepreneur Navigator and Program Director at StartUp Hutch. “It also brings another business to occupy a previously vacant building in Hutchinson and grow our community.”
