IRS Taxpayer Advocate Service

The role of the Taxpayer Advocate office is to assist taxpayers with IRS issues when normal procedures fail.

Taxpayer Advocate Service (TAS) provides assistance to taxpayers who are unable to resolve their problems through normal IRS channels, or when an IRS action or inaction is creating a significant hardship on the taxpayer. TAS is an independent part of the IRS. We’ll assign a case Advocate who will listen to your problem & work with you throughout the process. We’ll help you understand what needs to be done & negotiate on your behalf with other IRS operating divisions to resolve your problem.
