The Coffeyville Innovation Labs Maker Space Youth Kickoff is accepting registrations for students ages 8-10 years old for an exciting STEAM-related experience. Teams will be formed to solve a problem using only items in creative solutions kits that will be provided at the event.
Registration is free and required for students to participate in one of two available sessions. Sessions are scheduled for April 15 for girls from 9 a.m.-11:30 a.m. and boys from 1:30 p.m.-4 p.m. or April 22, which has the most flexibility for additional registrants, with a session for boys to be held from 9 a.m.-11:30 a.m. and girls from 1:30-4 p.m.
All sessions are held at Coffeyville’s Reawakening Headquarters.
This interactive event series is part of a NetWorked Community Solutions Grant to bring people together in an emerging economic redevelopment area (Coffeyville’s Reawakening space), to introduce a new community to the maker space concept and to inspire innovation and build interest for a permanent space for STEAM activities in downtown Coffeyville (Coffeyville Innovation Labs).
The Lead Applicant on the project is the Coffeyville Area Community Foundation.
The NetWorked Community Solutions Grant is from the NetWorked Partnership for Community Investment. NetWorked is an initiative of NetWork Kansas and is made possible by the Kansas Health Foundation, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas and the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation.
