  • Youth Entrepreneurship Series Recap - 2016-2017

    NetWork Kansas concluded the local-level of the 2016-2017 Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge (YEC) Series on March 22 with a record twenty-one community entrepreneurship competitions. The YEC Series consists of local-level youth entrepreneurship competitions hosted by volunteers. The goal of the competition is to expose Kansas middle school and high school students to entrepreneurship and to give students hands-on experience thinking entrepreneurially. Twenty-one local events in Kansas cities and counties will culminate in a state championship hosted at Fort Hays State University on April 24, 2017.

  • Independence Community College to host Ice House Entrepreneurship Program facilitator training

    Independence, KS – This facilitator training event is organized by the Entrepreneurial Learning Initiative and hosted by Independence Community College. The Ice House Entrepreneurship Program is an experiential, problem-based learning program designed to inspire and engage participants in the fundamental aspects of an entrepreneurial mindset.

  • Clifton Taulbert Keynote Speaker at NetWork Kansas State Championship

    HAYS, Kan. - Clifton Taulbert, award-winning entrepreneur and author, will be the keynote speaker at the NetWork Kansas Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge (YEC) State Championship on April 24 at Fort Hays State University. ​ Taulbert is an internationally acclaimed speaker and consultant who has worked across the world and has spoken at the United States Capitol, NATO Headquarters, the Supreme Court of the United States, and the United Nations. Taulbert has written fourteen books and been nominated for a Pulitzer Prize. Currently serving as the CEO of two companies, entrepreneurship is a passion for him that he has dedicated his life to helping others learn.

  • ICE HOUSE ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROGRAM LAUNCHES IN RICE COUNTY THIS MARCH

    Sterling, KS – Rice County Economic Development, in association with the Network Kansas E-Community Partnership, announces the Ice House Entrepreneurship Program will be offered in Rice County this March. Sessions will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 PM on Tuesdays, March 28th through April 18th with a program fee of $20 per person. The goal of the course is to teach participants to develop an entrepreneurial mindset.

  • Thirty Thomas, Riley And Pottawatomie County Residents Participate In Ice House Entrepreneurship Program

    Thomas County Economic Development Alliance, Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce and Pottawatomie County Economic Development Corporation, in association with the Network Kansas E-Community Partnership, hosted the Ice House Entrepreneurship Program in Colby and Manhattan this fall. Twelve participants from Thomas County and eighteen participants from Riley and Pottawatomie Counties attended the course.

Western Kansas-based entrepreneurs and small business owners from Scott City, Leoti and Dighton participated in the eight-week course in October and November.

  • Resource Network Helps Rural Businesses Grow

    As covered in the High Plains Journal, entrepreneurs drive community and economic development no matter where they are located, but entrepreneurs and small business owners in rural areas face different challenges than entrepreneurs in more populated areas. Because resources are often scarcer in rural areas than in urban centers, regional partnerships are vital to sustaining and growing small businesses in rural communities.

  • 27 McPherson and Scott County Businesses Attend WSU Entrepreneurship Program

    Wichita State University’s Center for Entrepreneurship presented the entrepreneurial certificate program “Growing Rural Businesses” in McPherson and in Scott City this fall, concluding the second session on November 10th. Eleven businesses from McPherson County and sixteen businesses from Scott County completed the course. This 8-week course is custom-made to meet the needs of existing small town or rural business owners who are ready to grow.

  • Kansas Commerce introduces JumpStart Kansas Entrepreneur

    Topeka, Kansas - NetWork Kansas will partner in a later phase of an initiative announced by the Kansas Department of Commerce called JumpStart Kansas Entrepreneur. The goal of the initiative is to incentivize and encourage “new businesses” while developing the entrepreneurial spirit in the state by partnering with our university structure and Network Kansas.   • ECONOMIC GARDENING GROWS KANSAS COMPANIES

    Wichita, KS - NetWork Kansas announced today twenty additional openings for businesses to participate in the Kansas Economic Gardening Program.  Thanks in part to a grant received from the Kauffman Foundation to facilitate business assistance projects in Kansas, twenty (20) second-stage businesses will be sent through the Kansas Economic Gardening program. There is no cost to the business.

  • $906,600 RAISED TO CREATE AND SUPPORT LOCAL LOAN FUNDS FOR ENTREPRENEURS

    Wichita, KS - Four communities selected by NetWork Kansas to participate in its innovative Entrepreneurship (E-) Community Partnership. Atchison, Edwards County, Lincoln County and Shawnee County received $355,000 in tax credits, enabling them to raise $473,333 to be loaned to local businesses and/or used to pay for NetWork Kansas board certified programs, ultimately creating a dynamic entrepreneurial environment. “We welcome these four great communities to the E-Community partnership, bringing the total to 59,” said Erik Pedersen, Vice President of Entrepreneurship for NetWork Kansas. “As we spent time meeting their leadership teams and financial review boards, it was apparent these passionate leaders will strive to find innovative and creative ways to grow an entrepreneurial ecosystem in their community.”
